Chess study 31 – Genrikh Kasparyan

Chess study 31

Genrikh Kasparyan study

Genrikh Kasparyan is considered to have been one of the greatest composers of chess endgame studies. Outside of Armenia, he is better known by the Russian version of his name Genrikh Moiseyevich Kasparyan or Kasparian.
Kasparyan started with composing chess problems, mainly three-movers, but soon discovered that his best field was in endgame studies. He wrote several books and collections and composed about 600 studies, many on the theme of domination, winning many prizes.

We have already presented some Kasparyan’s studies here and here.

The example below is taken from Kasparyan’s book “Domination in 2,545 Endgame Studies”

Chess Study 31 may very well be in Kasparyan’s book on Domination in 2545 Endgame Studies (I cannot say – I do not have that book), but I can assure you chess study 31 (as displayed by the link) is not a Genrikh Kasparyan study – if fact it is a famous chess study authored by another great: Richard Reti.
